In California, a woman received a ticket for speeding and for wearing her Google glasses. Cecilia Abadie, is the first person to receive such a ticket, while she was driving.
The vehicle code in question is 27602 (a) a person shall not drive a motor vehicle if a television receiver, a video monitor, or a television or video screen, or any other similar means…you get the picture. The question is, did Cecilia have her monitor on?
According to Cecilia she did not have her monitor on.
The officer disagrees, hence the reason for the ticket. The burden of proof lies on the officer. The officer will need to prove that the monitor was on while she was driving.
Either way, this will certainly become a landmark decision that will pave the way for future laws.
